Search window question
How do I switch the Search window from a full IE window to a window pane on the left side?
TIA

I'm not positive this is what you are driving at, but click on the Search button in the standard toolbar and it should open a sidebar, just like it would if you clicked on the Favorites button.

That's pretty close. At home, if I type in something to search for in the Address bar, IE shows the results in / at the full window size. To got to several result sites I have to open the link in a new window. I noticed that a machine at work, when you search using the Address bar, IE automatically pops open a sidebar showing the results on the left, and when you click on a search result link, it opens in the larger area to the right. Making viewing multiple sites much easier.

They might have changed the behaviour of IE between versions. Have a look under Help -> About at the Version for both machines.
The other thing I'd do is compare the settings on the Advanced tab under Tools -> Internet Options. |

Good idea, Metaphorically. I've searched everything I can think of on this machine and haven't figured it out. I'll check versions on both machines.

Ok, IE versions are the same (6.0.2800.x) and everything I can find in options and the like are all the same. The only clue I can providei is that on the machines at work, the Sidebar that pops up on the left is called: MSN Search Assistant.
Any ideas? |
