Been doing some experimenting and have some surprising results. In a recent post, I had mentioned some entries in autoexec.bat and was wondering where they came from. Network Neighborhood properties listed Banyan Vines. I know now that they came from Raspppoe.
I removed all entries having to do with Enternet 300 and Raspppoe. I then reloaded Enternet. There were no entries having to do with Banyan Vines and entries in autoexec.bat. I then removed Enternet and installed Raspppoe. Banyan Vines was listed and all the entries were back in autoexec.bat. I did a reformat and reinstall and installed Enternet 300. It is working best for me. Until Raspppoe's bugs are worked out, I'll stick with what I have. I did like the fact that Raspppoe is small and will keep my eye on any updates for it. Thanks to you guys for helping me out. The things I have learned from you have been invaluable. Carl |

Very interesting - that explains how he can bind the PPPoE protocol to dialup networking and an ethernet adapter......too bad it doesn't work right for you, because everyone else I talk to says not having the bloated software to do the logon makes a considerable difference. I guess Enternet is a lot better than Winpoet used to be - that was so bad that's why this guy came up with raspppoe.

Interesting indeed, I never remembered seeing any Banyan network protocols listed in network properties when using Raspppoe.
This may be a recent thing he's done with the software. Xayd |

I was curious also about where Banyan Vines came from. Thats one of the reasons for the experimenting and the reformat and reinstall. As long as Banyan Vines was listed, I would suffer the same long lags in communication as I had with dialup. Up to 3 minutes in length.
If anyone reading this post uses Enternet300 ver. 1.4, you can check the Auto Connect box in Application Settings and get a very fast connect. Saves redundant clicks too. I'll probably put up with the bloat of Enternet300 for awhile because everything is clicking right along and I'm still getting 1187kbps d/l. DSl is great. Now I can see why people said that you'll never go back to dialup. Carl |

IIRC Enternet is what came with my Ameritech DSL account, it wouldn't allow ICS so I dumped it for RASPPPOE and then dumped that when I bought a router.

Router is definitely the way to go. Easy to network without software, and you can maintain a connection for days.
