I heard that Yahoo is also upping the amount of space for the pay account-holders. Interesting what GMail has done already, without even being released to the public.

Hey, has anyone been up to date on when these 1GB email storages for free are going to be available? I know that I want to see about GMail, since Google has traditionally been really reliable.
Thanks, kram

Yahoo will also up amounts for non-paying accounts too, Andy, to about 100MB from what I have heard.
I thought spymac had the first 1GB email? Gmail has been doing tests with 1TB of space (and that's not a typo, it's one terabyte).

Yahoo just *dropped* the space on new free acoounts from 6mb to 4mb - but the bulk mail folder no longer counts toward the quota.

That an insane amount of space. I don't see how they could pull that off. Think of the number of users there would be (tens of thousands, maybe), then think of how many HDDs and machines would be needed, in addition to how much physical floor space they would take up. They would need a warehouse and their own chain of banks.

I'm not sure how much space is on my Hotmail account but I know I have never come close to filling it up. Even when I had 300 messages in my inbox. I can't imagine what I would do with 1GB of email space.

Hotmail has 2MB of storage, I believe. I keep filling up my account ever week or two.
