I apologize for not having the specifics, as I was told to attempt to find a solution for this problem, and after searching everywhere from Microsoft's knowledge base, to google, I have decided that maybe you guys could help me out.
The problem that we are having is with our Web server. This is what was described to me: The web service in our server running IIS 4.0 keeps going down every 40 minutes. I doubt that this is enough information, when I see my boss I will ask for more specifics... But for now, has anyone ever heard of any problems like this? This is not the Code Red virus, as we have checked for it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

Yep, not enough info to make even a good guess. Just make sure that it is fully patched and check the Event Viewer logs to help identify any errors.

Are you sure that you are running IIs 4.0? IIs 5.0 is what ships with W2K Server.
Did you look in the Event Viewer for errors? Did you look in the IIs logs for error? |

You are probably right
It is most likely 5.0 then.
I do not have access to the server, I am only researching for my boss.. I assume that he has looked at both logs because he told me that there were no traces of any errors, it would just shut down. I really apologize for my lack of knowledge. I am an intern, I know a little bit, but definitely not enough to be much help sometimes. |

First never assume anything. Second, your logs are about the only thing that can help you diagnose the problem. You can try searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the answer to your question.
