IE 5.0 Has Only 64 Bit Cipher Strength: Incapable of Accessing Some Web Sites
Some of you have recommended going back to IE 5.01 though I'm not sure exactly why. Recently, my desktop went down and I had to switch to my laptop. I still have IE 5 on the laptop. Right away I noticed I could not access the paypal.com site. I called Paypal and they said that you need IE 5.5 or above to access their web site because Cipher Strength found in Help menu-Internet Explorer needs to be 128 bit and IE 5.0 is 64 bit. For those preferring IE 5.01, can you upgrade to 128 bit cipher strength or will it always be impossible to access web sites that require 128 bit. Is there any advantage to using IE 5.01 over 6?

If I remember right, the differences where mostly minor when 5.5 came out but a couple of changes bothered some. I remember reading an article that claimed 5.5 was the beta for 6.0 due to the changes from pre 5.5. I like 6.x personally and have had no problems with it.

There never seemed to be much trouble in my accesing sites with MSIE 5.5 with my very old computer (Win95...yes, that's very old). However, ever since, I decided to get my other computesr up and running MSIE6 SP1 - always update - no harm in doing that, eh?
