Anti-Gmail Bill for California Approved

Quote:
No G-Mail for Californians. Google is working on a plan right now with the legal folks in California but no headway yet. Oh well, that is about 50 million e-mail accounts the rest of us can use!

The California state Senate on Thursday approved a bill that takes aim at Google's new Gmail service, placing strict limits on e-mail providers seeking to scan customer messages for advertising and other purposes.

If you don’t like what Google, or any company for that matter, does with their software...don’t use it! No one is making you use the free 1GB e-mail service are they?

If you don't like GMail, then just take a look at what spymac is offering.

Wooo! More GMail for us. I wonder what would happen if you run an AntiSpam program through GMail's "select advertising"....

I can't believe that passed. It's just rediculous. They should let people choose whether they want their Email read by a computer. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it. I certainly don't. How are they going to keep people from accessing it anyway?
