Can ping external sites using IP Address but not able to resolve IP Address. Desktop TCP Setup as per laptop, Desktop can ping DNS IP Addresses. Any ideas ? |

You have already narrowed it down to DNS issue or browser settings If using IE then go to internet options, connections tab and check the settings for the connection you are using on that PC. If this is no help then post back with router make and model and PC specs including type of, (wired or wireless) and make and model of LAN card. Are you using DHCP or static IP address??

what brand wireless router do you have? usually the good brand names have install cd's so you can setup easilly and quickly, or you could always try the networking wizard on the xp laptop.

Hi,
The desktop has both wireless and wired connection. Have tried both with the same results. Desktop PC was working fine until hard disk failure, rebuilt with Windows 2000 (as per before). ADSL Router is a netgear. It is not my setup, it is at a friends house. |
