Question IE6 Error

I like the interface of IE and want to get it to work again.

With that said, whenever I try to open IE I get a blank page and properties reveals:
"res://C:\WINNT\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm " no matter what I try.

Machine has W2K sp4, AVG 6, and is on cable (full specs in sig). IE does not show up in A/R programs and older versions will not install saying a newer version is already installed. Reinstalling IE6 does no good. I had a corrupt windows installer file but that is now fixed. Also, have ran windows repair with no help. Since IE is not recognized as being installed I cannot run a repair on it.

Everything else on the machine runs fine including Mozilla and Netscape.

Was hoping someone here had some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I did some looking around.. and this is something I came across:

http://www.securiteam.com/windowsntf...XP0G206WE.html

It pertains to the use of the IE 'back button' but perhaps something there.. may help..

Good luck

I do not believe that this exists from the back button as IE doesn't even show as installed in add/remove programs.

I'd give it a try but I'm not sure what to do with the instruction from your link.
