Who defines which Linux is "better"? It's all personal preference.

I think you have to be geekier than a Mac user, or have the time and want-to to learn it all. I haven't plugged my Mint in for awhile 'cause it kept changing my Bios time which changed my Win7 time. Was just a toy to experiment with anyway.

That's one reason I have a separate Linux box. I have 4 computers on a KVM - Mint 11 LXDE, Win2K, XP, and Win 7.

Grab some of the parts out of your closet and put some more boxes together - and get a good KVM!

The Win2K and XP boxes I built, the other 2 are other people's castaways that required relatively minor repairs to get working. The Linux box is an old Dell Dimension 4550 that had a blown PSU and sick hard drive (got a good used Dell PSU online for $21, I had an old 200 gig IDE drive in my pile, had 1 gig ram to max it out, and an AGP Geforce 6200 video card to replace the ATI card for better Linux compatibility) - and the Win 7 box is a relatively new HP slimline Pavilion that had a blown PSU, got a TFX Seasonic for 50 bucks and ran the HP recovery for a fresh start.

I use one box (test rig) and have a few hot swap drive bays. KVM is a good way to go as well

Or you could cut down on power consumption and run a virtual machine host. Virtuabox is easy enough for most people to install.

Closet, file cabinet, garage, storage. I wouldn't know where to start.
