So if you boot with an ISO and then make changes to the program, will those changes be recorded inside the ISO so the changes are still there the next time you boot the software as an ISO or are all the changes you made lost?
I am thinking of downloading and running a Ubuntu game on Steam, just for curiosities sake. Eventually the big game developers like EA, Blizzard and Bethesda will be writing premium games in Linux and Steam will be selling them if this takes off, which I think it will. Right now I do not see any newer top tier games for Linux on Steam, but what they are offering is an excellent start. Microsoft needs the OS competition in the desktop gaming market. From a gamers perspective it's nice to see the beginning of a choice. Maybe Linux will be more stable for playing premium games? That would be sweet. How good are the Linux graphics card drivers? Is Nvidia or AMD writing any? Can they support a three monitor system?

@David M - No, if you run from the ISO then changes will NOT be saved. Using a "Live" CD is just meant for testing it out, if you really want to use the full features Ubuntu (or any other Linux distro) then you need to install it.

I haven't worked too much with Persistent Live USBs (i.e. installing a lot of software while running a live USB, but I believe it's possible.
It's worth a try anyway... Create a Persistent Bootable Ubuntu USB Flash Drive. . |

The proprietary drivers for AMD and NVidia are very good in my experience but I am not a gamer. They work excellent with workstation cards.
