Does it have to be Redhat 6.0? I think your problem may be finding a 6.0 distro. It was released in 1999. Before changing to Fedora for the home desktop the last Redhat was 9. They sometimes referred to the first Fedora distros as Redhat 10.
.ISO is an image extension for download. You can go to www.linuxiso.org to get free linux ISO downloads. There you will find Redhat and Fedora in .ISO form but I doubt the version you want. When you download the .ISO file, you just use a program like Nero to create an image CD. It will burn the file to CD and that becomes your bootable version of the operating system like a windows OS CD. Maybe someone else will post if they know where to find a 6.0 version of Redhat. |

Just think of an .ISO image file to be a zip file of sorts containing all data from a particular CD. When you use your CD recording software to burn an image file, it essentially unzips the file and puts each and every folder and file back on the CD just as it originally was.
Hope that helps. |

If they are Bootable CD's they should. Have you ever tried to set the bios to install from CD-rom first and pop one of those cd's in to see what happens?

If it is not bootable it shouldn't do anything and the bios will go to the next boot from selection. If it is bootable you can see if it starts to boot, and cancel the installation at any point you want to, if you don't really want it to install on your machine.

Just a quick side note..why do so many people recommend burning your disks with Nero? As far as I know Nero is Windows only! besides cdrecord does it faster!

For me it's because Nero happens to be the program I have, so I say "burn it with a program like Nero". That could mean Roxio or any other similar software. I never heard of CDrecord, but would like to know more about it, since Nero gives me issues at times. Is it a linux only product or are there windows versions?

Hmmm. sorry, I am not familiar with the older RedHat versions. I have only installed Redhat 9 and fedora and I suppose they are much easier. What instrcutions are you getting on the screen?

Ok, if memory serves me Xconfig is the program that gives you a GUI so you don't want to skip that, you want that if you want a windows like desktop to work with, otherwise you have the text desktop that is like DOS. You may have to find a Redhat install site for what to do with the localhost login portion but I believe you can type in Root or se I believe to make it work. Root and se however is the linux equivalent of adminstrater in winddows and has the authority to make changes that will affect the whole system using it. So you want to create a user login for general work. This way if you mess something up while under a user login it doesn't mess up the entire system.
