Help

Hey, I just downloaded linux and need to resize a hard drive. I want to wipe it off and install on to it/ What should i use. Partition magic is out, I m broke

You should be able to resize the partition during the linux installation. Just pay attention to what your doing and it should go fine.

it wont let me. It says disk is write protected and wont let me do anything. It also wont show the existing partition i want to get rid of.

Whats the filesystem on the HDD and what distro are you useing?

also i just remembered the hard drive i am trying to instal linux on is set as a slave. Not sure if that maters.

You will need to resize the partition using a third party utility like Partition Magic or Disk Druid.

Check to see if the BIOS is set with a virus protection thingy. Suggestion #2 is to use fips from a floppy to do the partion.

what is fips and i dont have the money for a 3 party partitioner

never mind. I started using mandrake and it work on the hard drive.
