Question

I recently installed a D-link gateway to share my cable modem with the PCs in my home network. Does anyone know the files that need to be modified within Solaris (or created ie /etc/resolv.conf) to point the Sun box at the gateway? I am not using DHCP in my network.

You'll have to put the name servers addresses in /etc/resolv.conf.
Modify the "hosts" line in /etc/nsswitch.conf to include dns.
Add the IP address of the gateway to either /etc/defaultrouter or /etc/defaultgateway.
To add the route, you'll need to reboot. Also, you'll either have to use a non-routable
address for the host, or set up DHCP.
