Resolution and color in Linux
My friend decide to load Linux on his computer and it works fine but we can't seem to find a way to get the resolution and color settings look right. Everything is huge and it look like it's in like 16 colors. He is using SuSe Linux 7.0. Any help?

You may need to edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config manually. The file is usually commented out and quite easy to follow. I'm using Slackware 10 and it seems they have moved and/or renamed that file, so I can't quote which settings you need to change, but there are a few lines for colour depth and resolution.
Good Luck, Michael |

Well Slack 10 doesn't use XFree86 or whatever it was I don't think, they use X.org or something, which maybe has a slight difference, but I dont know it. Whatever happens, you need to edit the video config file. There should be a command that lets you run the wizard, and I was pretty sure you can choose such options from there, although I may bewrong.
Gosh I am tired.. hope some of that was right.... |
