Question

Hey all,

Can someone tell me what souncards will work under RH 7? I have both an SB Live Value and Aureal Vortex 2 card. I know the SB Live doesn't work...but how about the vortex? Do I need special drivers for either of these to get them to work? If so, where can I get them? Thanks!

SB Live works on mine and it is on RedHat's compatibilty list. I am not sure about the Vortex.

Check the RedHat Compatibility List.

Thanks mairving, just checked that list and did see it listed there. Didn't know all I had to is install an RPM off the cd. How about videocards, I see the ATI Radeon not listed, do you know if there are any drivers out there for it? Thanks again.

ATI Radeon:

ATI used to be the crappiest of them all for any tech support ESPECIALLY supporting their OSS. Not only are they cheap with their interest in selling the product and not the customer support, they are also hypocrites who claim to be endorsing the open source movement. A while back I swore never to buy an ATI product.
Having said that here are some links to get your Radeon [which one?] to work:

http://www.linuxvideo.org/gatos/ read homepage & CVS

http://lhd.datapower.com/ have posted this URL a gazillion times, this has all that you need. Video Cards .. listing 70 - 74

Your vortex works using ALSA drivers http://www.alsa-project.org/

Read this page: http://lhd.datapower.com/db/dispproduct.php3?DISP?811

Cheers
