install Mandrake 10 from scsi cdrom

Hi,

I'm trying to load Mandrake 10.0 to a P3 850 with SCSI cdrom. Disk two boots and asks if I want to install from cdrom. Yes. Then it says "No CDROM device found". OK. "insert additional driver floppy" I don't have one, so OK. No floppy detected. No. Then it offers some drivers. I choose any and it says "Please enter Parameter to give to Kernal. Options_____"
This is where I'm stuck.
What options?
Any ideas?

thanks,
Pat

Never tried to install Linux using a SCSI drive, but with IDE devices I believe CD drives are listed as cda1 or cda2 etc. Depending on whether the drive is primary or secondary. That may be the option the system is looking for.

After much seaching, the above site seems to indicate that Mandrake 10.0 doesn't support SCSI cdrom, at least during install. Recommends earlier version 9.0 or adding an IDE CD drive.
Such is life.
Thanks,
Pat

I could swear my friend was able to install Mandrake 10 on his system that has a SCSI CDROM and SCSI hard drives. There should be a boot option to load a scsi-enabled kernel.

Perhaps you can download and older version of MD, that will load from SCSI, and then use that as a base platform to upgrade to the mandrake 10.

An issue with Mandrake 10's default 2.6.xx kernel; try doing F1 for options and ALT+F1 for kernel options at the beginning of the installation and boot with the 2.4.xx kernel; if you then want 2.6.xx patch it with the latest stable of the kernel.
