Need Help With CDs - Red Hat 9
Hi, I just installed Red Hat Linux 9 and whenever I put a disc in, the disc drive doesn't do anything so nothing appears on the desktop, is there anyway to resolve this?
btw, im a complete noob so you'll have to tell me exactly what I have to do in steps if you can help me thx |

IIRC rh9 doesn't automount cds. You should have a cd icon on your desktop. Place a data cd in the drive and click on the cd icon and the cd should mount and the filemanager should open displaying the contents. Audio cds are not mounted and will not be displayed. You have to open an application to play an audio cd and it should be detected and played. I forget which one rh9 uses but audio cds can be played in kscd or xmms.

Is the cd drive listed in /etc/fstab? Post the file if your not sure. You can also try manually mounting the drive from a console:
# mount /mnt/cdrom and navigate to the mount point and see if the cd contents are listed. |
