If you want one that can run of a CD without being installed, Knoppix will work good for you. It runs completely off a CD and does not install anything, great for a newbie!

You can get it here. http://www.knoppix.net/get.php

Make sure you get the latest version, then use Nero to burn it to a CD then boot and enjoy.

If you're having trouble burning it to a disk

Definitely go with Knoppix. It boots from the CD and has all the programs you'll need.

OpenOffice - sort of like MS Office
Mozzila - browser, e-mail client etc.
Music player
Simple Games
- everything that you need is on the CD.

Actually I am not sure if you can do it with Nero Express, cuz when I had it, I tried and it didn't work. I had to use Nero Burning Rom, if you don't have this you can get a free trial at Nero's website.

In Nero Burning Rom, you click File > Burn Image.

When you are done and you put the disc in, if there is only one file, just the ISO file, then it was done wrong, there should be more files.

If you want a free utility that can burn an ISO image, check this out - http://www.burnatonce.com/downloads/

Hope that helps you.
