Change Default Program in Mac OX

i recently install Openoffice in my G4 computer with Max OX 10.2 software. everytime when i open an excel file and open AppleWorks as default and i want to change that to open with openoffice spreadsheet program. how can i do that. Also, how can i save printer profile so i dont' have to click the user code option everytime when i print using openoffice software.

also is openoffice free of change. can i install that in my company computers. please advise

Change open with

select the file in the finder, press apple+i to bring up the properties. Under "open with" choose open office and press change all files.
