Burning a bootable ISO image

I have downloaded Knoppix 3.6 and another ISO file that are supposed to be bootable. I then burned them with XP and Nero to CD and tried to boot to them. The computers I tried were set for the CD to be first in the boot order. Is there some special way to burn an ISO file that I am missing?

Find the option in Nero that says something like "Burn Image". For me, it's File > Burn Image (using 5.5). I don't know where that is in later versions such as 6, so if you have that, you may need to poke around a little bit.

Yes, its very important that you burn it as an image and not just as a data file. If it still doesn't work, try some difference image burning software, such as the demo of Alcohol 120%

For mounting disc images, I like Daemon Tools. It does just as good a job as Alcohol 120%, and it's free .
