video card
i'm going to build a computer in a few months (im tired of my old p3 system, which frequently crashes), and i was thinking about using Linux for the OS instead of windowsxp. will video cards compatible with windows (im going to use either the ATI radeon 9200 or radeon 9250) work with linux? thanks in advance.

In linux, if you have a choice, always go with nvidia. The ati linux drivers are primitive in comparison to nvidia's linux drivers. Also, the installation of ati dirvers in linux is troublesome, if you can get them to work at all. Nvidia is much better in this regard. With either ati or nvidia, you will have to install the proprietary linux drivers in order to get 3d support.

If you can avoid usind a radeon, that will make you life a lot easier. You are rolling the dice if you buy an ATI card. I couldnt get X to work with my 9600xt to work no matter what I tried, Buy an Nvidia if you can, I resorted to using an old TNT.

so will an nvidia work with linux even if on the minimum system requirements it only has windows, or does it have to say linux on the min. requirements?
