my poor pen drive
My pen drive has 3 Linux favors set to run from it.
a 700 meg Mepis distro. Feather Linux Distro and Damsmalllinux, the new one that are released today 0.9.2 However, I must be doing something wrong with the qemu because a friend at work has his damsmalllinux updating his settings and remembering his settings when he starts it up, while mine is not doing that. Several of us at work are installing various verisons of Linux on our Pen Drives and sharing in our learning. I am posting right now, from Damsmalllinux on my Pen drive. If anyone knows how to set it up to remember my settings please post here.

Check your DSL documentation for setting up a permanent home to save your settings. I'm fairly certain that's what you have to do. Like most distros that you can install to a pen drive, DSL installs the the cdrom image to the drive and it's read only, just like if you burned it to a cd and booted off it. It utilizes a compressed filesystem and some other tricks which makes it impossible to write to the partition where it's installed. If you have room on your pen drive, set up a separate partition where you can save your settings and check your documentation on how to do that.
