How to install new sound drivers in Knoppix ?

I am new to Linux. I am trying out Knoppix. I am typing this message from Knoppix.

Knorppix does not have the sound driver for my motherboard. My Asus motheboard has ADI 1980 sound chip.

I downloaded the Linux sound driver from Asus. After I unzipped the downloaded file, I got a .tar file. How do I install this sound driver file into Knoppix?

.tar is like one big file. you have to split it and then you will probably find a readme file that we explain how to install the driver.
you split the file by writing in the command prompt (after you got to the right folder):
tar xf yourfilename.tar
