Linux install on raid card

I have a highpoint rocketraid 133 card. On highpoint's site they list drivers for some versions of Linux.

My question is "Can I install Gentoo Linux to a drive on my highpoint card? Do I need to load a driver like with win2k or xp? Will the Linux installer "See" drives connected to the highpoint card?

I am thinking of Gentoo because it supports the AMD64 which I just built.

Thanks
