Whats your poison?
GNOME? KDE? Misc? Personally I LOVE the new GNOME with Nautilius, beats the crap out of KDE in my opinion. |

I have KDE running on my web server right now only cuz I never have the time to do anything with it.... one of these days I hope.

I have used KDE a lot, but I've recently developed a taste for straight Enlightenment. It is faster than KDE & Gnome, and I like the clean apperence ( no icons cluttering about).
OOPS!

Having had just a little taste of both, I like KDE for it kind of resembles windows more I think, but I think I like Gnome a little more.

I am happy with KDE. I do like Enlightenment a little though. Just like OOPS, I like the clean uncluttered desktop. I have not yet converted my wife though. I would not let her vote. She is still using Windows and I think if she was to use KDE it would be a good transition for her.

I started taking a look at GNOME since you mentioned it Statica. It does seem a bit cleaner than KDE.

You have got to check out Gnome with Sawmill as the windowmanager, it is just wayy too cool and clean. And what of Nautilius file manager/browser? Oooooh .. i will try to put up some screenshots from my newest desktop installation, without any tweaks to show u what I mean
![]() Hmm check this out: http://magritte.eazel.com/nautiluswsdemo.html In addition, Gnome is much faster than KDE from what I've noticed. Am just so kicked at being able to use my Linux as a fully functional and capable workstation .. I recently fdisked out my Win2K as well

Those look very nice indeed.... Say what exactly does Nautilus add to the existing gnome, is it just a file manager? Do you just download and install it, and that's it? Thanks again.

Thanks statica,
Hmmm, I always get confused as to which I need, for Red Hat 7? Is it the one for Linux/i586? Also what is the latest version? Thanks again. |

Yep thats fine if it corresponds to ur distrib version.
Read the rpm page if u are looking in rpmfind.net it will outline which package is for which distrib. or read the legend its pretty well laid out. |

I'm Definately a fan of GNOME, but I'm currently running KDE on my box because the gnomeprint package is missing from my BSD CDs, and I've been to lazy to do the work of getting everything around. Maybe this week...
