Dear Sir,
I have a machine loaded with mandrake linux 9.1.I had configured through mandrake linux control centre for connection to my ISP and i have been using the internet for the past six months. But during the last 3 days even though modem established connection with ISP whenever i try to access any site through the browser the following message appears:"Error loading www.----.com.Unable to locate host www.----.com".The mandrake control centre also says connection is not established to the internet. But the actual dial up connection to the ISP's line is through. In a similar condition a windows machine is able to establish connection to the same account and it is possible to browse the internet. This as i said before is a recent phenomenon. What could it be due to.Can any body help. Thanks Rajas3 |

When your connection drops, are you able to ping Yahoo by ip? 216.109.117.108
Could be one of the modem strings isn't set properly, so the modem is connected at a hardware level, but the software thinks it's disconnected... Mike |
