Help - mandrake linux
Ok, first things first, I'm a complete newbie to linux - I once used Knoppix. Anyway, I downloaded Mandrake linux CD1 and this is an ISO file. I have a computer that I want to try it on but I'm wondering - how do I install it. In the BIOS I set it to boot up from CDROM, however when I insert the CD and let it boot it says "No bootable media".
Someone, please, what am I doing wrong? EDIT: Dumb me - I don't think I burnt it correctly - I'll try using nero. Last edited by Siberian Bear; 03-25-2005 at 08:13 AM. |

You need to burn the iso image to a cd, nero is what I use, the iso image is not bootable.

As to burn your ISO images your should try DeepBurner Free Edition, I have burned once an Iso from a live Kalango Distro from Brazil a portuguese version of knoppix and It worked pretty well

Thanks for your really quick replies. CD1 now works - I thought I read somewhere that you only needed CD1, but I'll download the others and then run the install.

CD1 will give a basic install, the other disks usually contain all the extra software
