linux mandrake

hi, im a complete newbie at linux. but i was wondering if there is any way to switch between different desktops. theres four desktops at the bottom right and im wondering if you can run kde on one and icewm on the other and failsafe on the 3rd desktop without loging off or anything. so instead of loging off you just click on one of the desktop to bring up another different login. i heard you can do this on red hat but can you do it on mandrake?

thanks
shawn
