Live CD question

I was just wondering if anyone new if you can use a Linux live CD on a computer ( running windows 2000) which the administrator settings prevent you from adding new software?

yes you can. a LiveCD will boot from the CD and doesn't even need a hard drive installed in the system. just put the cd in and reboot.

http://www.linux.org/dist/index.html try that site, sort it by Live CD and it should show 60 different Linux Live CDs.

I highly recommend the knoppix distro for LiveCDs. Not only is it the most complete, It has many remastered versions setup for specific purposes.

I'm not trying to jump in or anything, but there are Linux Distributors that are purely based on using Live CD's. They seem to be more "tailored" that other Linux OS' that merely have a Live CD to give new users a feel for it, such as SuSE. As LocoCoyote said, Knoppix is great. I've only used it once, but I can say that it works great.

Don't forget the boot sequence on the BIOS setup CDROM first in Sequence
