Recommend Linux that installs at Windows program?

Can any of you recomment a version of Linux that installs as a Windows program [like the BeOS personal version]

And if I have any choice...I don't need a full featured Linux with lots of programs, a samller fast version that has good "configuration skills" would be fine. Any ideas?

I'm not sure there are any such distors, at least I don't know of any. Doesn't BeOS require you to give up some hard-drive space (I cant remember if it needs it's own partition or just a really large file) and also reboot your PC everytime you want to run BeOS? I think what you might want to look into is getting a virtual PC that can run under windows and then you could run any distro of Linuxwithout haveing to leave or reboot windows. =) However you would need quite a bit of RAM.

Otherwise I'd suggest you look into dual-booting. I don't know much about it, however last time I tried with Mandrake, it automatically set up a dual boot. I don't know how many distros can succesfully dual-boot windows and Linux,. If that doesn't work, then there is a thread here about dual booting.

Dodge7, have you head about the Live Linux CD's? Just taking a guess here, but if you are looking for a distro with minimal if any amout of configuration needed, then Live CD's is your best bet.

I play with BeatrIX. It can either be installed or you can burn an ISO to a CD and it will run independantly from Windows without touching your hardrives or leaving a trace.

You can download an install version (which you can very easily dual boot) or a live CD version of Ubuntu here: http://www.ubuntulinux.org/download/ it comes bundled with FireFox and is very easy to set up, it only took about half an hour to install and dual boot this machine and I was on the internet in about twenty seconds, I am using it now with FireFox to type this.
Ubuntu comes bundled with some good hard ware support.

I can't get either distro to work i think the best way is either a live cd distro or an install disk.

Talking Recommend Linux that installs at Windows program?

Hi Dodge7, go to Distro-Watch and order the Simply Mepis 3.3 for $1.99 and it will run as a live C/D or install itself right next to Windows... As a live C/D you can see if you like it and it will even configure itself to the internet or a wireless card. Its a graphical install and it even partitions for you and it looks like XP. You can even use it like Knoppix and do a Windows repair. If you have any problems there is the Mepis Lovers dot org. forums where you can get free help and they are a nice bunch of people. Good Luck Chiquito!!!
