Mandrake 10.1 problem...
Hi guys,
I'm a linux n00b of one week, and have been getting on great untill pretty recently. I was changing file permissions for a user account when I started to get warnings/errors from programmes reporting access problem (ie the programmes could not access the required directories) I decided to reboot. When I did, the GUI would not load as normal. I did manage to log in using the command line, and attempted to load the GUI with the command, and I get the following error: (EE) Failed to load module "usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglxa" (once-only module, 135962511) could not init front path element unix/:-1, removing from list! Fatal Server Error: could not open default font 'fixed' It mentions a log file, but i've no idea how I could access it! This sounds, pretty bad - please tell me otherwise ![]() Thanks, in advance, for any help or suggestions. Al |

I use mandrake 10.1 as well, but for home use only, in addition to xp. It sounds like the pc is on a network, and if so, depending on how you configured the network on the initial installation could affect user settings. However did you set a root password for the system? That should be in use so that you can access all files.
I had a similar problem recently where my GUI wasn't loading like normal, and I couldn't find my way out of the cmd line interface either...I didn't get any error messages, but upon my reinstallation everything was fine. In linux I've had to use the cd1 to reconfigure some settings...you can do that without reinstalling. Good luck |
