Linux problem AGAIN

ok I got linux to work and it was ready to install then the first thing it was going to do was resize windows. It said I needed to partition windows or something. how do I do that and what does it do?
ok I did manual installation and got to yast. In exact words this is what the error says:
A resizing error has occured!

shrinking your windows partition was not successful.
the partition has probably not been altered yet.

please abort the installation now to reboot windows. check your windows partition and possibly shrink it by other means.

Perhaps it is because your post is not quite clear. At least to me it's not. You say that you got Linux to work, but it won't install. If it isn't installed, then how is it working?
I have not really used SuSE, but other Linux flavors usually make the partiton for them to be placed on. Your system seems to be saying that windows is to make the partition, which it won't do. Windows will overwrite linux entirely. If you have XP you may be able to use the installation and create a smaller windows partition, otherwise windows is using the entire hardrive and there is no room for Linux. What version of Windows are you running? Is it a single windows or dual boot.
You may have to provide more specific information about what order things were done and at what point the problem arose. If you have access to a partition tool such as Partition Magic, you may be able to resize windows that way, to make room for linux.
