Red Hat 9 or Fedora

Is there a big difference between Red Hat 9 and Red Hat Fedora. I have a copy of each, but Fedora is on DVD and I don't really want to test it on my main PC, so I am thinking about installing Red Hat 9 which is on 3 cds onto an older PC that only has a CD Rom.

Would it be worth my while to go ahead and install Fedora, or is Red Hat 9 sufficient.

They are basically the same, with the possibility of a more recent kernel in Fedora. Also is Red Hat 9 still activly updated?

What do you mean by sufficient? like web surfing / email and the like, then RH9 would be good, you could also try to swap the dvd drive into the older PC and install fedora, and try it out. That way you will get to see how they differ, and get some practice installing linux at the same time. As long as the older PC isn't to old.

Seeing how you have a spare PC you could even try several distro's, and find one that suits your needs to a tee.

just my .02¢

Good luck
Mike
