Good Evening,
I got given an ancient Pentium Toshiba Laptop that has 32mb of Ram on it. There is no operating system on it. I want to use the laptop to write emails and do some writing on. I was thinking Linux would be best. Can anyone recommend a distro of Linux that will be efficient on the machine and not hog the poor resources I have? Many thanks, Haggis |

The trick here, I think, is to minimize your resource use. Forget about KDE and Gnome. If you absolutly have to run a GUI, try ICEWM. It is good, has a fair number of features, and user friendly.
That being said, any distro should work fine. The newer distros will be better with the hardware, but you may be able to work it with an older distro. RedHat 7.3 comes to mind.
