You can't uninstall an operating system like other programs. Do you plan to install a new operating system? If so, which one? The instructions will vary depending on the OS. Also, is 95 the only os on the machine? What are the machine specs?

what r your computers specs (processor, ram, hard drive size, etc)? it will help us determine if your pc can run linux on it, most pc's that had windows 95 on it have outdated and slow componenets which might make running different OS difficult, if not impossible.

I haven't worked with Mandrake before but I have worked with Ubuntu. Seems like you have the option to format the disk before the install just like with XP. You will lose all data on that hard drive but I suspect you're ok with that. Think I'll move this to the Alternative OS area so others more familiar with a Mandrake install can offer better assisance.

Forget mandrake, you don't have the horses for it unless you really strip everything down. In fact, the install program requires 64MB of ram to even run IIRC. Try either vector linux or damn small linux, both of which are designed for older hardware.
Another really cool distro is puppy linux, but it requires 128MB of ram. It runs everything from a ram disk and is amazingly fast on old hardware.
