Verifying DMI pool data........

I just finished building my new/first box and i have had some trouble with my sata HDD (using pci sata/raid controller). I have successfully installed slackware but after i rebooted it freezes at "verifying DMI pool data. After seeing this a few times i went into the bios, messed around, and then restarted. After that, now it says:

Verifying DMI pool data
boot from cd:
boot from cd:

I have searched google as well as your forums for this problem and it seems to be a Prevalent problem but I can’t seem to fix it.

I'm going to move this to the Alternative OS section. Sounds like the build went ok but you're having trouble with the Slackware install.

What kernel are you running? If you're running 2.4 upgrade to a 2.6 kernel. That may very well take care of your problem as that seems to be the solution for quite a few people. The 2.4 kernel is old enough that it's support for something like SATA would be pretty limited.

Take the advice for what it's worth though. It comes from Google searches, not personal experience, as I run Debian and don't have an SATA hardware. I do know from personal experience though that the 2.6 kernel supports a lot more of the newer hardware configurations than the 2.4 kernel does.
