Backup Scripts
Hi all,
I've recently aquired a Sony tape drive that I plan to install into my Linux box for automatic backup of files every night. Would a simple cron script do the job? If not, how might I go about writing backup scripts? Also, if anyone has any good links that detail writing backup scripts for tape drives in Linux I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance. |

You might look into using dump. You can tell it what you want to back up and call it from a cron script. Best of all, it was basically designed to use tape backup. Here is the home page for it. There is a link to a HOW TO at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps. |
