think i should keep this OS or switch?

i found a PC for sale at a computer store for $75 after rebates. It's a decent PC with a sempron CPU, 40gb HD. I'll need to upgrade the ram as it only came with 128 mb.

but the catch is it doesnt come with windows, it comes with Linspire. Im fine with that, im somewhat interested in trying something new. But if i am going to delve into the linux world i want to make sure im not wasting my time. you guys think i should stick with linspire, or should i switch to something else?

There are may Linux Distros free to download. Try Distrowatch.com,updated almost daily. I have downloaded about 12 different ones to see which one I liked,so far it is Mepis, but you may find one you like better. I tried Linspire, they also havve a free download through bit torrent but I don care for their Click & Run packaging system, always trying to sell you something and even though it is based on Debian it is hard to find the package you want from apt. I don use Linux all the time but it is fun to experiment with.

$75.00 bucks is not a bad deal for a computer and you can always put Windows on at a later date.
Mepis is good and worth the try. So is Knoppix, Ubuntu and SuSE. All the ones I mentioned come on Live CD versions that you can try before installing on your computer.

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
You can download the Ubuntu distro. They have both the Live CD and the Install available for download and burn your own cd's.
