Can't install AVG on Fedora Core 4

All I know to tell you is I keep getting a dependancy error that says I need this:
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3

Thye problem is I haven't a clue where to get those packages from.

Wish I could help, but this is why I dumped Redhat and never tried Fedora. I hated messing around with dependency problems. Don't have any of those problems in Debian. apt just kicks rpm's butt.

I did a Google search for the problem file and it seems to be a pretty popular error. You might try Googling for just that file name and see if any of the links will help. I don't remember enough from when I played with Redhat to be of any more help.

How long ago did you try to install it? If more than a few months ago you probably tried to install woody, and it's a lot harder to install than sarge, the new release, is. If you have broadband you don't even need cd's. You can do a 110 mB download of the "netinstall" cd from the Debian site and install everything off the internet. I bought the woody cd set, but ever since I've been installing off the netinstall cd. When you use it everything is up to date as soon as you install.

I think it was the woody release, I remember it was 3.0. I may try to istall sarge. I've got Direcway, it's the only way I could get a broadband connection where I'm at. I can download large files like 600 to 700mb but I I try to do much more than that in one day my connection starts bogging down. That' the reason I said i'l get tthe cds from somewhere. That way i can install it then update as I can.

Problem Solved

Well after extensive searching I finally found what I needed to fix that dependancy. I figured I'd post the URL here in case this problem comes up for someone else.
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3

Now I just gotta learn how to run AVG.

Curious why you are installing it? Are you running a mailserver? It looks way too pricey as well.

I bought the work station version while I was still running windows. Saw that it had Linux support as well so I though whatthe heck might as well install it. If nothing else it would keep me from passing on an email virus to a friend running windows.

Shouldn't have an issue with that unless you are running a mail server.
