The Tale of the Mandrake
What a pain. All I wanted was a clean install of Mandrake 8, WITHOUT lilo (hiding the whole Linux thing from everyone). No option to do that, so I had to physically remove my other hard drive, THEN install Mandrake.
Screwed up the first time, and ended up with Gnome, wanted KDE. Got it right on the second try.

why didn't you just install lilo, then remove it when you got the system installed?

The Expert option has an option to install a bootloader only if you need it. You should prompt it not to.

Well, I didn't choose Expert. :P
Next question, how the heck to I get event sounds? I've got a startup sound, so I know it's working, I just can't find any place to assign any other sounds, oh, and I'm not sure if I have midi support, there's no device listed under midi... Ensonique sound card, KDE desktop. |
