Installing CUPS

Okay, so I have Damn Small Linux, up and running, all fine and dandy.

I am trying to install Common Unix Printing Service, or CUPS. Everything is fine, until it comes time to compile the source. I get an error that says that there is no C compiler installed. Grasping at straws I downloaded TCC, Tiny C Compiler, and it said just add a line to the beginning of the source and it would compile...it didn't.

Would someone be able to guide me in the right direction?

Try installing the gcc compiler. That should fix your compiler problems.

As a point of interest once you get the CUPS package compiled, one of the best resources I know of for getting CUPS to work is linuxprinting.org. It is a gold mine for CUPS and just linux printing info in general.

Yes, I agree about the linuxprinting.org.

I got a PDF from them on installing CUPS (better than one I could find on cups.org ironically) It said in the beginning I needed 'Development Software' to install it...I skipped over it, to see how far I could get.

Thanks,
