I am trying to install 2 os's with linux installed first and qnx secound, and
no matter what I do I cant get it to give me a choice when hitting the space bar or tab or escape for which os I am on.It has the partitions there after using cfdisk.I think that I know what is happening, with the partition table being over written when I installed the secound one,but dont know how to fix,and thought that both would be able to handle multiple os's.Any suggestions? Thanks mike |

Have you checked your lilo to see if you have QNX as an OS on it?
By the way, you said that you put in QNX after Linux, are you sure that you havent overwritten the MBR with QNX' bootloader? The easiest step is to probably install Linux as the second OS, it should recognize QNX and put in a label for it. Other than that here's a Lilo minihowto: http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/LILO.html Or if you could elucidate with your partitioning schema perhaps we could get a solution. |

I think that is what is happening, being the table being overwritten.I will try
editing lilo and see if I can add the choice back. Thanks for your help and I will let you know if it works. |

After wiping out the drive and installing qnx first, then linux,I still have
only one choice.I did look at the lilo.conf and it had no mention of qnx.So what do I put in the config file to have a choice? The settings after looking at cfdisk where hda1 being the boot part for linux,5&6 being extended for linux, 4 being the qnx,and I dont know where 2&3 went or why they were not assigned.I am sure that it probably going to be something easy to fix, when I know the syntax to type in.Thanks mike |

try this: get into the lilo.conf file as root. edit your config file and add these lines:
# QNX bootable partition config begins other = /dev/hda4 label = QNX table = /dev/hda # QNX bootable partition config ends ok after you edit and save the file you should run lilo.If there is an error in your lilo.conf it will show up here. And you can go in and re-edit your lilo.conf, to fix the problems. note hda4 if it is on that partition. also make sure that this partition completely resides below the 1024 cylinder on your hard drive or else it wont be able to boot that partition. |

df
Remember, If you make any changes to the lilo.conf file you MUST run the lilo command again. This will install the changes you made.
