how do I install whitebox

downloaded all iso files and I can read them with my cdrom after burning them
to a cd,but when I set the computer to boot from cd nothing happens.
Is there some conversion first from iso or something before trying to install.
Thanks for any help.

Did you burn an image or just burn the files onto the cd's? For an .iso image to boot it must be burned as an image.

What program are you using to burn the CD? For example, if you're using Nero go to File > Open > and give it the ISO file.

Actually I used the software that comes with xp home edition when coping the files to the cd and burning at the same time on high speed at work. Now that I am home I will be using software that came with my cd burner which is easy cd creater.
I thought that the iso file was enough after taking that long to download now you have to do more just to try this out.Still want to thou if you or someone can tell me what to do now.
Thanks mq1.

As an analogy : an ISO image is like a zip file that contains pictures, if you had to view the zip files, you couldnt open the zip file itself with photoshop .. you have to decompress the zip file to view the images.
Similarly, an ISO file contains all the files of the CD in it .. if you just burn the ISO file, its like burning a zip file. By using a program that understands ISO files you essentially "expand" the ISO file into the CD.

I'd be more tempted to say an ISO resembles a TAR instead of a ZIP, 'cause I've never seen an ISO compress the final size of the CD very much.

Whatever burning software you choose to use- there should be an option to burn an ISO image to a CD. Then it will use the image of the CD to create all the folders and files. Don't copy it over to the CD or extract it then burn ('cause then your loose the boot record).

According to LinuxISO.org

"A Linux iso is a file containing a cdrom disk image of a Linux distribution. This cdrom disk image is an exact copy of a Linux distribution on a cdrom. Think of it as the equivalent of a screen capture, but instead of capturing the information on a screen, this image captures all of the information on a particular Linux distribution's cdrom. When burned as a disk image, the .iso file is turned into a duplicate cd of the original cd. If burned as a file, instead of a disk image, the cd becomes a copy of the downloaded .iso file, and not a bootable cd with accessible files and directories."

One of the things you have to do to boot from an ISO file is to make sure your system bios is set to boot from the cdrom before booting from the hard drive. That is done by an entry in your bios.

I don't know what burn software you are using but some software will automatically recognize a .iso file and burn it correctly. Some software requires a specific menu selection such as 'Create CD From Disc Image', or 'Burn Image'. Links to specific software package instructions can be found at linux ISO.org

It is hard only because you are learning new things. An ISO file is an image file. You need to throw the CD that won't load away and create a new one. Look in the burner help files for something like "creating an ISO file" or "creating an image file."

Section 4.3 of the Deepburner documentation tells you how to create an ISO image. You simple click that you want to create a data cd, turn off the multi-session feature and drag and drop. It is really simple. The keys are create a data cd and turning off the multi-session feature. This file is created on one track.

Some software says create a "disk at once". The idea is the LinuxISO file is an exact copy of the distribution.

Don't worry about the stuff that talks about creating a bootable cd. A Linux ISO will do that for you.

easier way to write an ISO in Deep burner Is these steps.

1 open the deepburner Application
2 select burn ISO Image
3 on the image file dialog click on the button with '...' it will browse for the file
4 then simply after finding the Iso file insert a empty CD or DVD and click burn
