Linux LAN Problems
I'm running Mandrake Linux 10.1, and I'm having trouble getting the Lan connection to connect. The two other computers on the network are WinXP Pro. I get an error on boot when it attempts to connect saying that the device was already in use.

If you are running off a router, usually running dhcpcd from the command prompt will fix this. If so, add dhcpcd to your startup script.

I'm using a switch, not a router. I'm using the KDE. Also, all of my computers have static IP addresses.(eg 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2)

I was looking at the boot sequence, and my laptop's doumentation, and it appears that after loading the PCMCIA drivers, Linux disables IRQ 11, the PCI bus IRQ. Then, when attempting to load 'interface eth0' it reports that the device is in use. I'm thinking that by disabling IRQ 11, Linux is preventing the card from connecting with the system.
