Is it asking to unload any specific NLMs? What is the exact PFC error, or is it just generic?

You should be able to unload most NLMs without worrying about the data on the machine.

You can unload any nlm safely without a problem except server.nlm. Unloading that will down the server. Also unloading the nlms will not remove them from the boot process next time you boot. They are specified in the autoexec and startup files. You can view them by loading install.nlm. These files will list what modules and drivers are to be started each boot. Technically the server is already booted even if it is not finished. You can also "rem" out the funky nlm from the autoexec.ncf file to prevent it from starting at boot and see if that solves your problem. HTH. It is too bad Novell isnt used much anymore. It is still a good, stable and secure nos.
