Hi,
I am a newbie to Linux but this is what I did. I tried installing linux. These cds I have are burned and I dont know if it has anything to do with it. I would then configure it and all and then it would partition my HD and then install GNOME with some packages. It will proceed the install with the first cd and then it asks for the second cd. So i insert it and then it wouldn't finish intalling...it would just exit and say "abnormal install exit" every time. I have a compaq, amd k6 400 mhz processor and a 40 gb hard drive. Please someone give me a solution and the right way to install it. thanks |

How did you burn the CD's? Using what program? Are you sure you burned them both with the "extract from .iso image" option?
If you still have the .iso images on your HD, why not try installing from there? If all else fails, go get Mandrake 8, it's a MUCH easier install. |

Yes, Mandrake 8.0 is VERY easy to install.... trust me. I have done it twice already (in 2 days).
I cant believe the ease of use, configurability, and stability of it (as long as I dont screw something up.. hehe). I can't get any sleep because I just keep wanting to learn/play more on it (and this is all w/o internet access on it yet).
