Do such Linux Distros exist?
I have heard there is a Linux that installs as a Windows folder, not requiring a reformating of the HD. You start it from Windows, it shuts down Windows and takes over the computer. Is there such a Linux disto?
Also, is there any Linux, with GUI, that would run reasonally good on an older computer? Like a 400 to 600 MHz celeron with 64 meg RAM? |

There are "Live" versions of Linux that you can run off of a CD without having to format your drives and install. Knoppix I think was the 1st such distro. There are others now, i would look at linuxiso.org

That description sounds a whole lot like BeOS Personal Edition... only works like that on 9x, mind, but it does exactly what you say.
Are you sure it was a Linux distro? |

Yes there are just go to the www.linux.org page click on the distributions button
and then specify preferences But these distros are not as easy as the live CD's I have tried some but could not put them to work properly |

I tired BeOS P.E. awhile back.... but I later heard there were versions of Linux that worked the same way. I thought it was a neat concept, easy to try without partitioning or reformatting the HD.
I have tried a coupld of live Linux CDs, and they do work nicely, without affecting the computer. It is just they run fairly slow. |
