CRASH linux and yukon NIC

I recently installed fedora core 4 onto my computer, with kernel 2.6.11. My ASUS P5GDC mobo has a marvell yukon ethernet controler built in. i have looked around, and it sounds like linux doesn't support this card right off the bat. i tried downloading a patch i got from the site below, but i have had trouble using it. i think it wants me to put a copy of the kernel source into the /usr/src/linux, but i don't kno exaclty how to do this. when i run the patch, it says:

"kernel mismatch"
and
no complier tools found

how can i get this card working? i pretty new to linux, so if anyone could help me that would be awsome. thanks for your time and input.
