Personally, I run Ubuntu Linux. It detected all of my hardware and has everything I need, so there was very little headache setting it up. Took me about a day or two to get all the packages I needed (MP3, etc.) but since then it has been smooth sailing.

RH 7.3 is ancient in linux terms and I would not recommend using that. If you like suse, you can download suse 10.0 from here(5 cds):

http://www.opensuse.org/Released_Version

Suse is primarlily kde oriented while RH/fedora and ubuntu are gnome oriented. Kde and gnome are different guis commonly used by linux distros. If you want to use kde for your desktop, I would stay away from either ubuntu or fedora, they both implement kde poorly, especially fedora. Mandriva is more kde oriented and worth a look as well.

Kubuntu is actually the KDE based Ubuntu Linux distro (freely available to download from Ubuntu's site). The founder of Ubuntu runs this this distro as opposed to the Gnome based Ubuntu and it is supported just as well.

It's hard to say which is more useful. Most people try several flavors of Linux before they find one they like. I did. I would just encourage you to give all the ones you are curious about a try and see which one you like the best.

Noteable newbie friendly ones are: Ubuntu, Mandriva, and Suse (granted I have never tried Suse).
