Post Thinking of trying out Linux?

This is a really good link to read.

He lays it out honestly and I found what he says to be 100% true. Very worthwhile read even if you aren't considering switching ...or already have .

Here is another excellent article for those of you thinking about giving Linux a shot.

This one focuses on another popular distro, Mandriva:

Worth the read.

Reading both articles, I found both very helpful and informative. Raised in a windows environment, I thought I might as well give this a try... or at least crash and burn in a spectacular plume of light while doing so

To be honest, until I saw some screenshots of the Linux GUI (of the Mandriva variety) in action, I had always assumed that Linux was a DOS clone, with blocky, green text, and an impenetrable command line. Shows how much I know...

A Live Slackware Linux compilation (Slax 5.0.6 was used in this demo)
Winrar (or another ISO extracting application)
